"Special Session on Cognitive Radio: the NEWCOM++ vision" at CIP 2010 conference
Flexibility, cognition, reconfigurability and software radio are trendy terms in the last years in wireless communications. These new paradigms exploit the ability of network and terminals to adapt and reconfigure in accordance with variations in the radio environment targeting a more efficient utilisation of the scarce radio resources while at the same time satisfying the final user needs. The consequence is that almost all topics of signal processing, digital communications and networking are involved in this trend. In particular, all these topics are addressed, directly or indirectly by the NEWCOM++ (Network of Excellence for Wireless COMmunications) project, mainly in relation with radio resource and spectrum management aspects as well as with software radio and reconfigurability issues. Under this framework, this session will attempt to present some of the key advances in signal processing and digital communications for SWR and CR design carried out within the NEWCOM++ project. Important Dates: Full four-page paper submission: January 10, 2010 Notification of acceptance: March 10, 2010 Final camera-ready papers and author registration: April 10, 2010 Session organizers: Prof. Jacques Palicot (CNRS-Supelec) Dr. Jordi Pérez-Romero (UPC)
