New open position at Samsung Electronics Research Institue UK

·           Ph.D degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering or any related discipline (an equivalent period of industrial experience may be substituted) with a special emphasis on the following topics:

o        Layer 1 processing: emphasis on Digital Communication, at least Signal processing

o        MIMO processing with in-depth understanding and experience of:

§         Beamforming (BF), SM, SDMA, STC, LDC, …

§         Multi-User MIMO (pre-coding, and/or Cooperative)

§         MIMO Scheduling experience (e.g. User Grouping)

o        Space-Time Codes Design experience (e.g. Rank, Determinant, Trace based design methods, BICM-MIMO…)

o        Understanding of Closed-Loop related methods (Codebook design, Quantized Feedback, etc…)

o        Spatial Adaptation understanding

·           At least 3 years experience in the mobile communication research field.

·           A good understanding and simulation expertise  in one of following software platform/language:

o        C/C++ (good level with one of them is mandatory)

o        IT++ would be a plus

o        Matlab : MEX Files experience

·           Knowledge in Mobile Wireless Systems e.g. (DVB-H, IEEE 802.16e, 3GPP LTE, UMB,…)

·           Experience of Standardization is a plus (e.g. ETSI, DVB Forum, IEEE, 3GPP…)

·           Experience with Cooperative Research Projects (FP6, EPSRC, RNRT, CELTIC…)

·           Experience in drafting and filing patents

·           Knowledge of research methods and techniques and methods of collecting and analysing, synthesizing data is essential.

·           A competent level of presentation, communication and planning skills: ability to communicate ( oral and written) and present ideas and concepts in  English is required.

·           Self motivation and ability to work within a team, managing own work and setting sensible priorities according to perceived requirements.

·           Analytical and logical thinking capability.

·           A good understanding of documentation requirements.

·           Ability to learn and implement SERI and Corporate business philosophies.
