16 - CHALMERS/KAU
Chalmers / Karlstads Universiteit
Chalmers, founded in 1829, has now 10 600 students and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in most fields of engineering and in architecture. The number of full-time equivalent employees, is 2 245 of which about 900 are researchers/teachers, 625 Ph.D. students, and 745 technicians and administrative staff. Researchers at Chalmers have research experience of modulation, channel coding, source coding, adaptive coding and modulation systems, hybrid ARQ, synchronization and channel estimation, OFDM, CDMA, scheduling and multiple access.
In NEWCOM++, Chalmers will be involved in MIMO issues including channel state feedback, adaptive coding and modulation, relaying and cooperation in networks, scheduling, and positioning. Moreover, Chalmers will be active in the spreading and integration activities. Chalmers includes researchers from Karlstads Universiteit, Sweden, who will act as third party to CHalmers by carrying out part of the research (special clause no. 10 in GA).
Karlstad Universiteit (KaU) has around 11000 students, and just over 1100 staff. The Department of Computer Science at KaU consists of about 30 faculty and staff members. Researchers at Karlstad have research experience on design of flexible architectures and protocols for 4G cellular systems, ad-hoc networks and wireless meshed networks, as well as on development of privacy-enhancing technologies and of dynamic security services for wireless and mobile networks. KaU will be involved in relaying and cooperation in networks, scheduling, opportunistic networks, and security. Moreover, KaU will be active in the spreading and integration activities.
