Institute of Accelerating Systems and Applications

Institute of Accelerating Systems and Applications (IASA) is a non-profit multi-disciplinary Research Institute, founded and partially funded by the Greek Ministry of Education and affiliated with six departments of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), two of the leading and most renowned academic institutions in Greece.

The Institute houses an autonomous Wireless Systems Research Group, including 2 professors, 2 assistant professors, 2 researchers and 4 PhD students, on the following topics: Physical Layer & Baseband Techniques, Modulation/Waveform Design, Receiver Architectures (Adaptive, Reconfigurable & Iterative schemes), Coding/Decoding (Convolutional, Turbo, Space-Time, Layered Coding), Channel Parameter Estimation, Joint Equalisation/Decoding, Flexible Radio, Radio Resource Management. The IASA group has participated actively in several EU-IST projects: All IASA staff members involved in this project have played a vital role in the past in development of research and applications in their respective areas. All have published extensively in the areas under consideration and have been involved in NEWCOM within FP6 and have contributed substantially to the network effort. IASA will be involved in the WPs related to adaptive modulation and coding, adaptive radio resource management, scaling laws in wireless networks, opportunistic networks, and flexible radio.
