The Technion is the oldest university in Israel and is the country’s top facility for science and technology. The university offers degrees in science and engineering, and related fields such as architecture, medicine, industrial management and education in an intellectually invigorating environment. The Technion actively publishes its discoveries in journals and popular manuscripts.

Technion laboratories are also dedicated to enhancing the country’s economy – they offer novel solutions, research facilities, and world-class expertise. The Department of Electrical Engineering of the Technion is ranked among the "top 10" Electrical Engineering and Computer Science departments in the world. The department is the major source of engineers who lead the development of advanced Israeli technology in the fields of electronics, computers and communications.

In the capacity of NEWCOM ++, the Technion will be involved in effects of partial CSI and feedback, iterative receivers for wireless communications, relaying and cooperation in networks, joint source and channel decoding, scaling laws in wireless networks, and opportunistic networks. All the Technion staff members involved in this project have played a vital role in the past in development of research and applications in their respective areas. All have published extensively in the areas under consideration and have been involved in previous networks and grants with similar goals. In particular, three of the four researchers in the Technion have been involved in the previous NEWCOM effort and have contributed substantially to the network effort. The expertise of the group at the Technion include Shannon theory, signal processing, networking and game theory, coding theory and information theory thus covering all the areas that we plan to be involved in.
