NEWCOM (Network of Excellence in Wireless COMmunications) is an European network that links in a cooperative way a large number of leading research groups addressing the Strategic Objective "Mobile and wireless systems beyond 3G", a frontier research area of the Priority Thematic Area of IST. Today, it has become one of Europe’s flagship initiatives in telecommunications.
Within the auspices of Newcom, a workshop dedicated to emerging topics in communications will be organised in Bressanone, Italy, from 1-4 July 2008. The workshop will focus on the dissemination of results obtained within the various departments and projects of Newcom. For more details, please, keep visiting www.dei.unipd.it/ssie.
Focus:
The Newcom Emerging Topics Workshop will provide a global forum for presenting the most recent advances and future technical challenges that comprise the contemporary and emerging landscape in wireless communications. The organisers endeavour to attract the exposure of emerging areas with high potential for essential scientific and societal impact such as wireless sensor and RFID networks, non-trivial pervasive computing services and ambient technologies. The latter areas are expected to facilitate the development of a broad vision of innovative future applications in wireless communications.
This workshop will run in parallel with tutorials given by renowned experts in the field of wireless sensor networks.
Call for Papers:
Authors participating in the Newcom consortium, those attending the tutorials, as well as researchers in Europe at large are invited to submit high-quality papers describing original contributions in the area of emerging networks, such as:
- Wireless Sensor Networks
- Internet of Things
- Innovative Architectures & Protocols
- Novel Designs at PHY, MAC, Network and Application Layers
- Cross-Layer Design; etc.
Extended abstracts of 2 double-column pages should be in English and submitted in PDF to mischa.dohler@cttc.es.
Important dates are:
