Description of the workshop:
The goal of the workshop is to bring together experts in the fields of
information and coding theory, genetics and bioinformatics and initiate
a discussion on how to establish a framework for rigorous treatment of
DNA-repair in order to describe its functionality quantitatively and
algorithmically.
The main idea is that the principles of information theory and coding
theory developed for engineering of man-made systems can serve as a
framework for incorporating phenomena observed on different levels of
abstraction of the genomic error correction system, and that insights in
biological origins of DNA repair can open new horizons in engineering of
synthetic systems.
