C Scope & Objective
Scope of special session? What will the participants gain?
The objective of this NEWCOM++ special session is to host papers/presentation on recent advances on wireless physical layer security. Wireless physical layer security has attracted a lot of attention recently in the communication society due to recent breakthrough results with respect to broadcast channels.
The participants of the special session will gain insight on the latest results in this field where the organizer has gathered the best known experts in the field from Europe (mainly NEWCOM++) and the world.
D Motivation
Why do you consider your special session topic to be important?
For many years, the wireless channel was seen as a drawback, by reducing the rate of transmissions schemes due to the unpredictable randomness of the channel. It turned out that if one could exploit fading, enormous gains of capacity could be achieved through opportunistic signalling. This has led to various implementations in standards (HSDPA,..) and is now a central scheme for multi-user communications. In the secrecy arena, similar paths are also being established. Indeed, although counter-intuitive, the random channel naturally provides a level of protection against wire-tapping and eavesdropping. A particularly intriguing opportunity is the security that is provided by the random channel, if one can exploit it judiciously. The goal of the session is to show latest results in the field, which is to be considered as one of the next research paradigms in wireless.
Who do you think could be interested in / benefit from attending your special session?
Wireless researchers in academia and industry, standards bodies and regulators
E Approach
List of papers which have been submitted to the evaluation process and which will be part of this special session; also, state whether some papers from the open call matching the topic are needed to fill the special session.
The special session gathers word-class researchers which have accepted to submit papers to the session.
1) "Nested Codes for Secure Transmission", by Ruoheng Liu and H. Vincent Poor (Princeton University)
2) “Vandermonde matrices for security applications", M. Kobayashi, L. Sampaio, M. Debbah
3) “Compound setting for secure communications” by Grace Liang, Gerhard kramer, Vince Poor and Shlomo Shamai
4) “To be announced “ by H. El Gamal
