10 - CEA-LETI

CEA-LETI is a laboratory belonging to the French Nuclear Energy Commission (CEA). It is one of the largest European applied research laboratories in the field of electronics (staff is approximately 900 people). The main activities of CEA-LETI are dealing with microelectronics, sensors, Microsystems, instrumentation, optoelectronics, IC design and telecommunications. Its corporate goal is to bring technological innovation to the European industry and to create added value through an active Intellectual property policy based on the management of a strong patent portfolio (500 patents, and more than 140 filings/year) and the licensing of its technologies. In the field of Telecommunications, CEA-LETI has been, or is currently involved, in several R&D projects of the 5th and 6th IST Framework. In particular, CEA-LETI has coordinated the ASILUM, MATRICE, 4MORE and is currently coordinating ORACLE, URANUS and e-SENSE projects.


For more than 15 years, CEA has developed a strong expertise in digital communications on various wireless systems encompassing WPAN, WLAN, WMAN and cellular. Its focus is on physical layer and hardware design innovations. For several years, reconfigurability and cognitive radio have been active topics for CEA who has a leading position in major national and European initiatives. In this field, CEA has an acknowledge experience in digital system and IC design, including reconfigurable IP accelerators and Network on Chip 4G ASICs.
