05 - CNIT

CNIT is a non-profit Consortium among 36 Italian Universities, whose main purpose is to coordinate and foster basic and applied research activities also looking for cooperation with national and international bodies and industries and provide advanced education and training in the area of telecommunications.


The CNIT's Research Units make available their own resources free of charge to CNIT. In particular, within NEWCOM++ the contractor CNIT will make specific use of the resources made availabler by the following research units:

  • Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna,
  • Università degli Studi di Catania,
  • Università degli Studi di Ferrara,
  • Università degli Studi di Modena/Reggio Emilia,
  • Università degli Studi di Padova,
  • Università di Pisa,
  • Politecnico di Milano,
  • Politecnico di Torino.


CNIT has a vast experience on management and development of large research projects. The number of professors and researchers involved is thus very high, and therefore CNIT will be involved in almost all NEWCOM++ activities. Several WPs will be led by CNIT researchers. Moreover, CNIT will be deeply involved in the management of the network. The specific role of the third parties is reported below, after the short CVs of the CNIT researchers that will lead NEWCOM++ WPs, are reported.
