DESCRIPTION:NEWCOM (Network of Excellence in Wireless COMmunications) 
 is an European network that links in a cooperative way a large number 
 of leading research groups addressing the Strategic Objective "Mobile 
 and wireless systems beyond 3G"\, a frontier research area of the Prio
 rity Thematic Area of IST. Today\, it has become one of Europe’s fla
 gship initiatives in telecommunications. \nWithin the auspices of Newc
 om\, schools devoted to hot topics in communications will be organized
 . The first will be organised in Bressanone\, Italy\, from June 30- Ju
 ly 4\, 2008 and it is devoted to “Wireless Sensor Networks”. In pa
 rallel to the school a Emerging topic workshop is running with the aim
  of dissemination of results obtained within the various departments a
